The french word “entrepreneur” was first defined by economist Richard Cantillon (1680-1734) as a person who is willing to help launch a new enterprise and accept full responsibility for the outcome. Amongst thousands of failed ideas and dreams, there are those who suceed in their innovations and ventures, achieveing not only financial rewards, but community and industry recognition. These are the photos of B.C.’s entrepreneurs who envisioned, executed, and excel in what they do.

Congratulations to all of the nominees, runners-up, and winners of the Ernst & Young 2011 Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.
