“A software developer persistently in search of creative freedom and ownership, Eric gained traction developing Facebook apps and quizzes before he met Kenshi Arasaki and Wilkins Chung”

At 22, Eric Diep dropped out of the University of Waterloo and booked a one-way flight to San Francisco. A software developer persistently in search of creative freedom and ownership, he gained traction developing Facebook apps and quizzes before he met Kenshi Arasaki and Wilkins Chung, fellow Canadian expats working at Amazon. The trio established A Thinking Ape, a mobile-game company, and qualified for Y Combinator, a Mountainview, California, accelerator whose graduates include AirBnB, Reddit and Dropbox, among other companies. Fast-forward five years, and the company has relocated to Vancouver, and has 60 employees at its Gastown office. –Jacob Parry
