Maple Ridge is one of the fastest growing cities in the province and is blessed with natural beauty, affordability and livability.

“We have a strong sense of community in Maple Ridge; it is very family-oriented,” says Bruce Livingstone, the city’s business retention and expansion officer. “We have seen a huge spike in young families moving here because homes cost half the benchmark price of a home in the Greater Vancouver area and the city offers an exceptional lifestyle.”

According to Livingstone, 20,000 people are expected to move into the town centre over the next 25 years. With careful planning, Maple Ridge is setting itself up as a highly desirable city, one with economic opportunities, great schools, as well as an involved community with a vibrant arts scene, anchored by the ACT Arts Centre.

“There’s so much to do; there are many outdoor activities and recreational facilities,” he adds.

One of Maple Ridge’s most precious jewels is its parks system—and the crown jewel is undoubtedly Golden Ears Provincial Park, one of the busiest parks in the province, which hosts approximately 600,000 visitors each year.

“We also have 200 kilometres of multi-use trails, which are used by hikers, walkers and horseback riders,” adds Livingstone.

Accessibility has been a top priority for the city. Livingstone is proud of the city’s transportation infrastructure, offering easier access to the downtown core and throughout the Lower Mainland.

“The Pitt River and Golden Ears bridges have allowed for better accessibility in and out of Maple Ridge, while Highway 17 allows residents to get to the Vancouver International Airport quickly and easily,” he explains.  

Maple Ridge also features a thriving business culture, with lots of family-run businesses and small, independent shops and restaurants.

Even Hollywood has come calling. “Last year, there were 417 filming days, which resulted in 1,000 residents receiving job opportunities,” says Livingstone. 

In the end, it comes down to quality of life and Maple Ridge offers it in spades.
