CRUISE 360

APPRENTICESHIP: HANDS ON THE FUTURE
The nonprofit Canadian Apprenticeship Forum, whose members include employers, unions, educators and government representatives, promotes apprenticeship as a pathway to rewarding careers. At this year’s conference, industry and government speakers and panellists will discuss how to engage a new generation of apprentices (including women), their expectations of the workplace, the impact of technology and how apprenticeship systems might be adapted to meet these issues.

RAIC FESTIVAL OF ARCHITECTURE 
The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada is holding its 2016 festival in Nanaimo, and everyone’s invited. Find out how the built environment connects a community, how well-designed spaces shape our lives and how architects can help solve global problems like climate change. Shawn Atleo, former national chief of the Assembly of First Nations, is the keynote speaker. The four-day festival kicks off with a PechaKucha night and wraps up with a street party in downtown Nanaimo.
