Sexy and Wealthy in Heels launched in Vancouver last week following launches in Calgary and Toronto

Vancouver businesswomen came together last week to celebrate the launch of a new online community aiming to connect female entrepreneurs.

The event took place in Gastown on Thursday and featured exhibitors, a panel discussion and keynote speaker Nancy Mumford, founder of Le Petit Spa and owner of Spa Boutique.

Sexy & Wealthy in Heels will host regular events including workshops, talks and networking events in Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto. Upcoming events include seminars on leveraging social media for your business, finance workshops and PR training sessions.

Kicking off the panel discussion on Thursday night was Sexy & Wealthy in Heels founder Laura Furtado, owner of DivaGirl Inc., who gave her must-have list when starting a business. The list focused on creating a dream team of people to have working for your business and included a good bookkeeper, an innovative thinker and a motivator. Social media and marketing professional Amanda Webster provided her three ways to make more money, which focused on referrals and relationships, online marketing and networking events.

Rounding out the evening was Mumford, who discussed her experiences making the jump from corporate life to owning her own business. She advised women to be patient and to figure out how much risk to live with. Her only regret is that she didn’t get into the entrepreneurship game earlier.

“The biggest fear factor is ‘what if?’ But what if you don’t start your business and you could have reached a dream?” she asked the audience.
