TransCold Acquires Coast Mountain Dairy

Things continue to heat up in the ice cream business for TransCold Distribution Ltd., which announced that Chilliwack-based ice cream manufacturer Coast Mountain Dairy is the newest addition to the wholesale and distribution company's roster.

“Together we will further strength our positions in ice cream and frozen distribution,” says John Coughlan, CEO and president, adding that the acquisition of Coast Mountain Dairy brings with it a strong portfolio of locally produced iconic brands and a wide range of ice cream products.

The TransCold portfolio already includes Magnum, Popsicle, Klondike, Ben & Jerry’s, Breyers, Chapman’s and Sara’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream.

In 2007, TransCold expanded operations beyond B.C. and Alberta to include Washington and Oregon states.

Coast Mountain Dairy, the largest ice cream manufacturing plant in B.C., employs 30 people and will continue its operations in Chilliwack.
