BCBusiness won the Canadian Business Press ‘Magazine of the Year’ honour.

Canada Wide Media’s flagship title ‘was a clear winner’ say Canadian Business Press judges

BCBusiness was big news in Toronto last week. The flagship title for Canada Wide Media and the province’s business voice for more than 40 years was named ‘Professional Magazine of the Year’ at the 2014 Canadian Business Press Kenneth R. Wilson Awards. It is the national awards program’s most prestigious distinction.

According to judges, BCBusiness took the award easily. “[BCBusiness] challenges your expectations. Its engaging content is presented through top-notch photography, solid typography and a creative approach to its editorial. It was a clear winner.”

BCBusiness publisher Tom Gierasimczuk, who accepted the honour in Toronto on June 3, says BCBusiness put the B.C. business leaders and entrepreneurs first and it shows. “It is an incredible honour to have our editorial and design teams recognized for their amazing talent, eye and commitment to producing Canada’s best regional business news month after month,” he says. “It really validates our understanding of and importance to our audience—about what they need and how they use our stories and resources in print, online and at events. It’s this clarity and purpose, recognized by the awards judges, that has fuelled us to new highs of audience engagement, advertiser satisfaction and reader advocacy over the past year.”

BCBusiness owner Peter Legge adds: “When I purchased BCBusiness magazine from Jimmy Pattison, I promised Jimmy that I would do my best to make it the best magazine of its kind in Canada. This award makes good on that pledge.”

The award was presented at the Kenneth R. Wilson 60th anniversary awards gala at the Grand Banking Hotel in Toronto on June 3.
