Vision Critical Raises $16 Million

With more money in its pocket, the Vancouver tech giant may be one step closer to an IPO

Vancouver-based Vision Critical is $16 million richer thanks to a new round of funding led by Georgian Partners, a Toronto-based venture capital firm.

The 700-person consumer insights company is one of Vancouver’s major tech stars, working with big-name clients such as Time, World Vision, Molson Coors, Yahoo and NASCAR.

But Canadians may know the company better for its political polling, named after co-founder and sociologist Angus Reid, who retired as Vision Critical’s executive chair last month.

Like Hootsuite, Vision Critical is growing rapidly and many industry watchers speculate an IPO could be in its near future. The company’s last big cash injection was in 2012, a $20-million round led by OMERS Ventures.
