From the first day students step foot inside NYIT-Vancouver, they become part of NYIT’s global university community. They have the option to start their program in Vancouver and complete it in New York or at another global campus.

The Vancouver campus currently offers the following six programs: Master of Business Administration in Management (M.B.A.); M.B.A. in Finance; Master of Science (M.S.) in Information, Networks and Computer Security; M.S. in Energy Management; M.S. in Instructional Technology Educators; and M.S. in Instructional Technology, Trainers.

“Courses at NYIT follow outstanding teaching methods, [and allow you to] work on realistic projects, such as simulation of your own company,” says Master of Business Administration student Pavla Hlozkova. “[There’s also] a lot of opportunities to present in front of a class and other audiences. This all helps students to be better prepared for their professional future.”

The School of Management at NYIT-Vancouver emphasizes practical application of business concepts generally for all enterprises, and specifically for small- to medium-sized enterprises.

“Locally, we like our students to be more intermingled with a business culture here that is uniquely Canadian with overseas expansion prospects,” explains M.B.A. professor Dr. Frank Lorne. “We have student engagement programs such as practicums, internships and corporate challenges that we also use to identify business working partners for our school and our students.”

The M.S. in Information, Network, and Computer Security teaches students how to create and implement cyber security solutions that are suitable for different business needs.

“Throughout their course work they will perform industry-oriented activities, such as risk assessments, penetration testing, forensic analysis, firewalls and network design,” says professor Dr. Ahmed Awad. “On top of the academic education they receive, the practical part plays a big role in preparing them as successful candidates for the industry.”

Participants in NYIT’s M.S. for Instructional Technology for Educators help to build the capacity of schools to provide students with cutting-edge research-based applications of technology for learning.

“This program will equip teachers as leaders with the knowledge and skills to address quality instruction using tools most responsive to student learning needs,” says professor Sarah McPherson. “The M.S. in Instructional Technology, for Professional Trainers offers research-based strategies and adult learning theory, and industry-standard tools are the basis of the program to arm participants with the most current repertoire of tools and skills to be highly effective professional trainers,” she adds.

NYIT Vancouver’s newest program, M.S. in Energy Management program is tailored to deliver in-depth knowledge of clean and renewable energy technologies, energy efficiency, energy policy and related aspects of environmental science.

Led by a faculty with both academic and industrial experience, students gain core competencies in sustainable energy systems through a combination of classroom study and applied practical collaborative projects.

“With the ever-growing green energy economy, managers in all institutions require sound backgrounds in energy processes, policies and practices to meet the challenge of building a sustainable future,” says instructor Patricia Keen.

All of the graduate degree programs at NYIT Vancouver can be completed as an intensive one-year program of study or through a part-time flexible learning model designed for professionals who already travel for their chosen career path.
