Dîner en Blanc Vancouver

This year's event attracts a sold-out crowd of 6,000 guests

On August 18, guests dressed in white, over a third of them first-time participants, converged on the Concord Pacific Expo lands for the fifth annual Dîner en Blanc Vancouver, the largest in Canada. The top secret location on the shores of False Creek was announced minutes before guests arrived to set up their own picnic baskets, tables and chairs in their designated location. Hawksworth Restaurant also provided a fully catered dinner option.

Partygoers were treated to roving circus entertainers and live performances by the jazz/gypsy band the Lost Fingers. Dinner began with a ceremonial waving of napkins and ended with guests lighting sparklers. There was also a surprise engagement at this year's event.

Dîner en Blanc Vancouver was produced by the Social Concierge and sponsored by Nordstrom, Icon Wines, Concord Pacific and Land Rover Jaguar. Launched in Paris in 1988 by François Pasquier and a handful of friends, Le Dîner en Blanc de Paris now attracts more than 10,000 people each year. What was a “friends and word-of-mouth only” event has grown into an international sensation celebrated on five continents. Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Montreal, Dîner en Blanc International is responsible for developing this secret picnic in over 60 cities in more than 25 countries around the world.
