With a cutoff of $260 million, B.C.’s Top 100 is an exclusive club.

Now in its 25th year, our annual ranking highlights B.C.’s biggest earners by revenue

There’s no shortage of successful B.C. businesses, as this title is wont to point out, but just who tops the food chain? Every year, BCBusiness aims to answer exactly this question with its annual Top 100 list, which this month celebrates its 25th anniversary.

The list is simple enough, ranking companies by revenue—not profit—from biggest to smallest, pulling data from the previous year. And by smallest we mean $260 million, the cutoff for this year’s list.

While some rankings will come as no shock—Telus is once again No. 1, albeit with an even stronger lead than last year—2013 had its share of surprises, notably in natural resources. Goldcorp, for instance, saw its revenue decline 18.5 per cent—and consequently its income plunge into the red.

But overall, 2013 wasn’t bad for B.C.’s biggest-earning firms. Indeed, aggregate revenues were up 5.4 per cent.
