The British High Commission and the Canada Climate Law Initiative put out the list of 26 individuals.

If it’s possible for a list of climate champions to be star-studded, we saw it today.
Minister of Infrastructure and Communities Catherine McKenna (who formerly held the post of minister of environment and climate change) and B.C. environmentalist David Suzuki headline a list of 26 Canadian Climate Champions released by the Ottawa-based British High Commission and the Canada Climate Law Initiative.
McKenna delivered the keynote address for a livestream event marking six months until the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in the U.K. Suzuki and Melina Laboucan-Massimo, founder of Sacred Earth Solar, also spoke at the event.
Joining Suzuki were fellow BCers Linda Coady, executive director of the Pembina Institute; Vancouver Economic Commission director Bryan Buggey; W Dusk Energy Group president and CEO David Isaac, who has helped complete two of B.C.’s largest community-owned solar projects; Marcia Smith, senior vice-president, sustainability and external affairs, with Teck Resources; and Marina Melanidis, founder and comanaging director of youth-led international organization Youth4Nature.
“We are at a turning point for our planet, and urgent change is needed now to address the existential threat of climate change. Ahead of COP26, the U.K. is leading by example through ambitious climate action,” said Susan le Jeune d’Allegeershecque, British high commissioner to Canada.
“Climate change won’t be addressed by one country alone, but through the collective work of many. It is in this spirit that we recognize these 26 Canadian Climate Champions, who are helping to move Canada to net-zero emissions and actively working to build a clean energy future for all.”
