The merger of CareWorx and Vancouver’s Fully Managed will see six service centres across North America

Two of Canada’s biggest managed services companies are putting their heads together. On December 11, CareWorx Corp. and Fully Managed announced a cross-country merger. This deal will see the two industry trailblazers, based in Ottawa and Vancouver, respectively, join forces as CareWorx Fully Managed.

A managed services provider (MSP) handles the outsourcing of business processes and functions, most often IT-related, to improve operations and cut expenses.

Fully Managed co-founder Chris Day and Mark Scott, founder of TUC Managed IT Solutions—which merged with CareWorx in 2016—have long been rivals. But they had also talked about partnering to form a well-funded MSP platform company.

“We are creating an ‘MSP unicorn’—one that can accelerate rapidly through both organic growth and acquisitions, while redefining our customers’ experience,” Scott, now CEO of CareWorx Fully Managed, said in a statement.

“Ultimately, I see an alignment of great people on both teams, committed to a common vision of simplifying technology for our customers,” said 2018 Entrepreneur Of The Year runner-up Joel Abramson, the former chief executive of Fully Managed, who will serve as executive VP and general manager of the new company’s managed services division.

CareWorx Fully Managed has 270 employees across its three divisions, which also include enterprise service management and senior care.

“It will be exciting to see what we can do with our business,” said Day, who sits on the board of the merged company.
