The skinny: Six-bedroom, eight-bathroom, 7,750-square-foot home on a 12,508-square-foot lot in West Vancouver

The bling: Camelot! There’s an entire Broadway musical devoted to this wonderful listing. In the catchy promotional blurb of songwriters Lerner and Loewe: “There’s simply not a more congenial spot/For happily ever after than here in Camelot!”

Legend tells that Arthur became king by pulling the magical sword Excalibur from the stone. It basically works the same in West Vancouver except instead of “Pull the sword from the stone,” it’s more “Pull out a cashier’s cheque for about 10 million bucks.”

This palatial dwelling features many extras, although perhaps not the ones you would expect. No moat, for instance. But there are floor-to-ceiling windows and a patio big enough to organize a crusade. There’s a wine room, and it seems to include a barrel. The barrel is round, which fits nicely with the epic tales of legend, but when the whole gang comes over you’ll probably want a table. There’s also a home theatre where you can watch Monty Python and the Holy Grail on repeat. Be forewarned, though—once you leave the theatre, you may suddenly feel you have stepped into a Stanley Kubrick flick. There seem to be a lot of gleaming white walls and tile, like the space station on 2001: A Space Odyssey or the bathroom in The Shining. The illuminated thingy framing the fireplace also has an only-in-a-sci-fi-movie-because-otherwise-what’s-the-point vibe to it. Built in 2017, this place frankly doesn’t say “medieval” at all. But they are asking a king’s ransom.

The hidden extras: There’s an infinity pool. No telling who might be hiding in there with a free sword. And there’s bound to be a grail somewhere. Keep looking.
