Vancouver is one of the top 5 most popular cities worldwide: survey

A recent report by the Shanghai-based Hurun Research Institute in association with Visas Consulting Group found that, while the U.S. remains the most popular emigration destination for Chinese high net worth individuals (HNWI) for the third year in a row, Canada has overtaken the U.K. in second place. The 30-page report, conducted between April and July, is based on a survey of 304 Chinese nationals with an average wealth of 20 million yuan ($3.69 million) who have already emigrated, are applying to emigrate or who plan to do so in future.

Overall, U.S. cities have seen a fall in favour since the Trump presidency, although four still top the list:

1. Los Angeles

2. Seattle

3. San Francisco

4. New York

5. Vancouver

The main factors for emigrating overseas are education (75 per cent) and living environment (64 per cent). For the first time, respondents cited the desire for an ideal living environment (53 per cent), and 29 per cent said medical care was important.
