Circle Craft Cooperative is pleased to announce the 2019 edition of Circle Craft Christmas Market. Over 300 artisans (60 new this year!) will gather to show their wares: fine artistry and modern design via wood, clay, textiles, metal and more! A Vancouver tradition for over four decades, the market traditionally begins the holiday shopping season in the city.
Circle Craft Christmas Market attracts some 40,000 people eager to discover the creations of hundreds of Canadian artisans all of whom are jury-selected based on talent and diversity.
Visitors will also find a “shopping spree” contest, the Gourmet Alley, musical performances, the Budding Artists area where emerging artists will introduce exciting and innovative new work, and several artisan demonstrations! This year, the artisan demo line-up includes potters Gordon Hutchens and Cathi Jefferson on the pottery wheel, and dress-painting by clothing designer Lennard Taylor. More artist demonstrations and musicians to be announced!
Formed in 1972, Circle Craft is a B.C-.run artist cooperative dedicated to providing opportunities for craftspeople to connect with the community. Members of Circle Craft exhibit at the market; they also play host to makers of fine crafts from across Canada. The first market took place in 1973 at the Cultch. The Circle Craft Christmas Market has always retained its unique character and mandate to showcase high quality craft via the artisans themselves.
In 2019, Circle Craft introduces a new team at the helm of the Market. Following the retirement of long-time producer Paul Yard, Rossanne Clamp and Andrea Sanders have been named co-producers of Circle Craft Christmas Market. Both have been part of the market team for several years, and both bring a wealth of arts experience to their new roles.
