RICS DRIVES BUILT ENVIRONMENT SOLUTIONS AT VANCOUVER SUMMIT OF THE AMERICAS
RICS will be holding the first of its Summit of the Americas 2019 events in Vancouver on April 24 at the Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue at Simon Fraser University. The summit will bring together thought leaders from across the region to share their knowledge and drive solutions to major issues in the global and regional Vancouver built environments.
The goal of the summit will be to discuss innovative solutions for in the land, construction, infrastructure and property sectors that will benefit everyone in the community. The summit’s leading panellists and speakers will seek to provide clarity and hope for some of the biggest industry challenges facing business leaders and policymakers in 2019, such as how the shifting intersection of business and politics affect important real estate decisions, how property and construction technology can transform an industry resistant to change, how shifting work and leisure trends affect the viability of buildings as revenue generators and how we can apply strategies more widely from cities that have successfully implemented sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives.
The day-long event will include keynotes and panel discussions covering a range of trending land and real estate topics, including Globalization and the Built Environment; Proptech and the Future of Cities; Contech, Standards and the Power of Productivity; and The Impact of a Changing Workplace. Speakers include Robin Silvester, president and CEO for the Port of Vancouver; Robert Macdonald, director, Workplace Strategies + Planning for the Government of British Columbia’s Real Property Division; Fiona Famulak, president of the Vancouver Regional Construction Association; James Swanston, CEO of Voyage Control; Andrea Wolf, national managing director, advisory for Colliers International; Bryon Olsen, director of corporate real wstate, North America for Willis Towers Watson; Anil Sawhney, infrastructure sector director for RICS; and Chris Smith, cost consultancy practice leader for CBRE.
