Cicely Belle Blain, CEO of Cicely Blain Consulting, co-founder of Vancouver’s Black Lives Matter chapter, a Vancouver Magazine most influential person of 2018 and (of course) a BCBusiness 30 Under 30 winner. This month, Blain is launching Stratagem, Western Canada’s largest conference on diversity and inclusion in Vancouver.

The need for tools, policies and skills that create and support diversity in the workplace is paramount. Racially diverse teams outperform non-diverse teams by 35 percent. Gender diverse teams earn 41 percent more revenue than their peers. Despite these benefits, many companies don’t know how to meet the growing demands to not just create diverse workplaces but to create corporate infrastructure that provides long-term, sustainable support. To respond to this growing need, Stratagem offers radical, barrier-breaking conversations to create success for professionals across industries.

Having made an international name for themselves as a leading diversity consultant, Blain–and 30 national and international leaders in equality and inclusion–bring these crucial conversations to Vancouver on an unprecedented scale, which we think would make for an exciting piece. Through a combination of engaging panels and hands-on, interactive workshops, Stratagem teaches attendees how to create concrete and actionable plans to reform their workplace against prejudice, harassment, micro-aggressions and more.
