Tourism Vancouver and film commissions launch contest to celebrate B.C. locations

To highlight that much of War for the Planet of the Apes, now in theatres, was filmed in and around B.C., a new sweepstakes contest offers prizes that include a trip for two to Vancouver and Vancouver Island with four nights of luxury accommodation, as well as outdoor adventure experiences. The prize is valued at more than $4,500.

In the series, which includes two previous instalments—Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Rise of the Planet of the Apes—Vancouver‘s downtown streetscapes and waterfront double for San Francisco. Other B.C. locations include Canada’s surfing capital, Tofino; the unspoiled coastlines near Ucluelet; Alouette Lake at Golden Ears Provincial Park; Robert Burnaby Park; and Pacific Rim National Park as stand-ins for the film world’s waterfalls, beaches, battlegrounds and jungles.
