Dine/ Courtney Street, near Victoria’s Inner Harbour, will soon welcome a namesake restaurant. The Magnolia Hotel & Spa expects the Courtney Room to open in late April. The menu, under chef Sam Harris (right), formerly of Agrius Restaurant, will feature local and seasonal products with a French twist.
Sip/ Burnaby-based OneCoffee, which introduced 90-percent biodegradable single-serve coffee pods in 2013, recently achieved 100-percent compostable certification from the Biodegradable Products Institute Inc. in New York. The pods, sold at major retailers and through Amazon.com, are made with plant-based resin.
Dress/ In the menswear field, Vancouver-based Ædelhard is a new brand that combines tailored styling with technical apparel performance. Launched by Darrell Kopke, a former executive at Lululemon Athletica Inc. and Kit and Ace, and Toronto tailor Michael Nguyen, the company takes its ethos of sportsmanship from the game of rugby.
Savour/ Chefs Lee Cooper and Jack Chen along with partner Nin Rai, the trio behind L’Abattoir in Gastown, now have a nearby sister restaurant at 181 Carrall Street. Coquille Fine Seafood (above) offers fresh-caught fish and shellfish, local craft beer and cocktails on tap, plus B.C. and international wines.
Drive/ OpenRoad Auto Group has unveiled Western Canada’s first Karma Automotive dealership, one of only 12 in North America. On West Fifth Avenue east of Burrard Street, Karma Vancouver sells luxury electric plug-in hybrid sports cars manufactured in California.
