These businesses can help postpartum moms, seniors and people with neurological disorders get fit at home

■ Mindful Movement

Mother-daughter duo Gabriela Schonbach and Amanda Giannakos channelled their passion for yoga and wellness into a COVID project back in 2020: Movement by NM. They started the subscription-based platform to blend “art, fitness and life” for $15/month or $99/year. Members can use the app for HIIT, dance, yoga, strength training and other disciplines, in addition to workshops, movement plans, documentaries and inspiring stories.

■ Moving Mountains

Athlete, kinesiologist and postpartum exercise specialist Sara Niblock is a mom on a mission to help other moms return to fitness. Niblock’s 15 years of experience culminated in Whistler-based Mountain Mom Strong in 2020 to help postpartum moms heal their bodies and restore their core. A guided 12-week group subscription program gives full access to the platform for $660, and a self-paced simplified program offers a breathing window of six months for $315.

■ Motion Picture

Kelowna’s In Motion Fitness delivers an online fitness program for seniors, people with neurological disorders (like Parkinson’s patients or stroke survivors) and those with impaired movement. For $49/month or $479/year, the monthly video subscription service streams around six classes a week to work on posture, strength training, balance, flexibility and core strength.
