Apply for the Synergy Foundation's sustainability-focused program by February 13.
It’s hard enough to start a business these days, much less one that’s trying to operate within the circular economy. That’s why Synergy Foundation, a Victoria-based nonprofit, has been running its free Project Zero Incubator program in partnership with Vancity since 2019 to support green startups and entrepreneurs on their journey to sustainability.
By participating in this eight-month program—which runs April to December every year—ventures will be able to develop a business plan, learn business fundamentals, gain access to mentors and coaches, as well as network with industry leaders. Sessions are hosted online every three weeks. In the end, participants can expect to have a pitch-ready business plan, connections to experts, access to capital and, above all, have reduced waste.
So far, 46 ventures have graduated from the program (17 of them through last year’s iteration). This year, the foundation is accepting concepts around reusing, refurbishing or reducing waste. To qualify, applicants need to be based in B.C., planning to develop the business locally, and currently an early-stage venture (or making less than $500,000 in revenue).
