First edition of the list puts TD Bank Group at the top spot

Social networking site LinkedIn has released its list of the top 25 most sought-after places to work in Canada. Out of the 25, 19 businesses are Canadian, with Vancouver boasting two: Hootsuite (third) and Lululemon Athletica Inc. (11th).

Four pillars were analyzed in ranking the companies: interest in the company, engagement with the company’s employees, job demand and employee retention.

LinkedIn also gave specific reasons as to why the top five were given the distinction.

TD Bank Group’s spot at the top of the list was a result of employees feeling like they have a voice, thanks to a yearly feedback survey and flexible working hours.

In second place, the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) encourages employees to live healthy lifestyles and offers them a wellness program that rewards healthy behaviour.

Mount Pleasant-based Hootsuite was given kudos for a “stretch program” that encourages employees to spend one day a week trying a new position.

Amazon and KPMG Canada rounded out the top five because of patents won by inventors in the past year and a global opportunity program that lets Canadian workers spend time in overseas offices, respectively.
