A record-breaking $5.95 million was raised at the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation's 22nd annual Night of a Thousand Stars Gala at the Vancouver Convention Centre
Over 900 guests and VIPs attended the 22nd annual Night of a Thousand Stars Gala at the Vancouver Convention Centre on November 18. Presented by Telus, the event raised a record-breaking $5.95 million toward the next generation of robotic surgery at VGH.
The evening began with a cocktail reception and the opportunity to bid on silent auction items before guests headed into the ballroom for the gala. Global BC News Hour anchor Chris Gailus was the gala emcee.
Darlene Poole donated a generous gift of $1.97 million for the new robot named after her husband, Jack. The 2017 Leadership Award was given to Peterson and the Yeung Family, in recognition of their exceptional philanthropic leadership.
After dinner, Goldcorp Inc. sponsored the popular Twilight Lounge with dancing to the Famous Players Band.
