BC Children's Hospital Foundation's 6th annual A Night of Miracles Gala 2014
Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Hotel
November 8, 2014
More than 400 guests attended the sixth annual A Night of Miracles (ANOM) Gala, an initiative of the South Asian community, at the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Hotel.
Over $800,000 was raised, completing the pledge of $3 million to support the construction of the ANOM Special Procedures Suites in BC Children's Hospital's new Tech Acute Centre. The amount raised was announced by BC Children’s Hospital Foundation CEO Teri Nicholas, event founding chair Robin Dhir and vice-chair Vik Khanna at the end of the evening. Donors Arran and Ratana Stephens helped the community reach the $3-million goal by pledging to match gifts up to $1 million, inspiring many others to give.
The gala was emceed by Steve Darling and Sonia Beeksma of Global BC and co-presented by returning sponsors Fasken Martineau and RBC Royal Bank. Dinner was a collaboration between Frank Gort, executive chef of the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Downtown, and Vikram Vij of Vij’s Restaurant. The evening featured a preview of Goh Ballet’s Nutcracker, live and silent auctions and dancing.
BC Children’s Hospital is the province’s only full-service acute-care hospital dedicated to serving close to one million children in B.C. and the Yukon. All seriously ill or injured children are referred to Children’s Hospital and are either treated at the hospital facility in Vancouver or, with consultation from Children’s specialists, in their home community. Last year, more than 85,000 children were treated at Children’s Hospital.
In 2013-14 BC Children’s Hospital Foundation received donations from more than 118,000 people and had revenues of $92.2 million. Funds raised by the foundation are used to support BC Children’s Hospital, Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children and the Child & Family Research Institute.
