Bomber Brewing Opens to the Public

Bomber Brewing, the latest of a spate of Strathcona microbrewers, throws its doors open to the public, offering a sneak preview of next week’s tasting lounge opening

The latest member of Vancouver’s family of microbrewers, Bomber Brewing Corp., opens its doors to the public for the first time today, filling growlers and selling cans to go from 2:00 to 7:00. The take-away-only event is a teaser for the opening of Bomber’s tasting lounge next week.

Bomber occupied the 7,000-square-foot space at 1488 Adanac Street last October. It started shipping its first pallets of cans to select liquor stores a month ago, and shipped its first kegs earlier this week.

Co-owner Don Farion, who with business partner Dean Mallel also owns Vancouver’s two Biercraft restaurants, told BCBusiness that the brewery is named after his beer-league hockey team. Teammate Blair Calibaba, a veteran home brewer, came on board as Bomber’s master brewer.

Bomber’s flagship beers are its ESB, IPA and pilsner, all of which are available in cans and growlers. Its ESB, as well as a combo pack of all three, have been granted shelf space in government liquor stores: look for them soon.
