That’s a gorgeous dress.

Thank you! I bought it earlier this year from Holt Renfrew for about $500. I was nominated for the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards so I bought it for that event and ended up wearing it to the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year event as well.

You’re brave to wear white, what with all the potential spillage.

So far, so good. It’s tough because I’ve got two little ones at home aged three and one-and-a-half. I’ve got to basically get dressed and walk straight out the door, otherwise I know I’m going to have something on me. Black is, of course, more slimming, and I’m still carrying some extra baby weight around, so I’m kind of proud of myself that I bought something white.

Do you enjoy shopping?

I actually hate shopping. When I find something, I tend to hang on to it and use it with other stuff as much as possible. I got this beaded shawl and the matching purse at Bebe about seven years ago. I’m probably more like a typical man when I shop – I walk in and I just want to find what I need and get out. I don’t want to window shop.

What do you wear when you’re not glammed up?

Comfortable clothes. I buy Lotuswear quite a bit because I know the founder, Lisa Palleson-Stallan, and I like to support other women entrepreneurs. I’ve got a lot of stuff from her and a lot of stuff from Linda Hipp who owns Lija. I generally work from home, so I keep it comfortable and casual.

Does that mean you do a lot of work in your bathrobe?

I’ve been through phases of that, especially when the kids were really young and I was nursing and trying to juggle work at the same time. I didn’t really take any time off. There have been days when it’s three o’clock in the afternoon and I’m still in my pajamas, doing my work.
