Face the World Gala 2014
The Cohen Family Residence
June 14, 2014
More than 250 of Vancouver's business elite and community leaders attended the 24th annual Face the World Gala, hosted by Army & Navy president Jacqui Cohen. The evening raised an extraordinary sum—crossing the million-dollar mark—with funds to be distributed to charities throughout the Lower Mainland, with a particular focus on organizations that support battered women, abused children, the elderly and the homeless.
Presenting sponsor Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Vancouver, event sponsor LNG Canada, entertainment sponsor Great Canadian Gaming Corporation and caterers Hy's Encore and Gotham Steakhouse provided tremendous support to the event. A combination of sponsors, ticket sales—at $2,000 per ticket—a balloon raffle, auction and an impromptu surprise donation—a 160-foot Odessa yacht, which alone raised a quarter of a million dollars—resulted in this year's extraordinary sum. Vicki Gabereau and Mike Killeen were the event auctioneers.
"My daughter, Kasondra, and I feel a tremendous responsibility to give back to our community, and we are fortunate to have this opportunity,” said Jacqui Cohen. “I am incredibly grateful to everyone who attends and gives so generously. It enables the foundation to make a real difference in the community, and in the lives of so many."
