Face the World's 25th Silver Anniversary Gala raises $1.5 million for charitable organizations
Face the World's 25th Silver Anniversary Gala 2015
Jacqui Cohen's Point Grey home
June 13, 2015
More than 200 guests, including prominent business and community leaders, attended Face the World's 25th Anniversary Gala held at Army & Navy president Jacqui Cohen's Point Grey residence with presenting sponsors BMO Bank of Montreal. The event raised $1.5 million dollars for organizations that support abused women and children, the elderly and the homeless. The evening began with a champagne reception in the driveway to the sounds of DJ Loig Morin of Loig's Music Lab. Guests also had an opportunity to bid on silent auction items.
Emcees Vicki Gabereau, Canadian television and radio personality, and Mike Killeen, CTV Evening News co-anchor, made opening remarks before dinner with a live auction afterward featuring auctioneer Howard Blanks. The auction saw intense bidding for art, travel and a lease on a BMW i8, donated by The BMW Store, which fetched close to its $70,000 value. New York drag performer Milk entertained to wild applause from the audience followed by DJ Loig who spun tunes on the dance floor for the after-dinner partygoers.
"It was a profound evening on many levels and I am very grateful for the support of sponsors, suppliers and all of my guests who I hold so dear,” said Cohen. “Because of everyone’s efforts and unwavering commitment, the Foundation is able to make a true difference in the community."
Face the World Foundation was started in May 1991 to provide the hands of hope to the less fortunate members of the Vancouver community. More than $15 million has been donated to hundreds of grassroots organizations.
