Need a last-minute gift for Mom? Here are 11 items or places across the province to find the perfect one
It seems that gifting never gets any easier. And when it’s an event that happens every year like Mother’s Day (ok sure, birthdays and other holidays too), then it’s easy to run out of creative and unique ideas. Asking Mom doesn’t always solve the gifting conundrum either because (if your mother is anything like mine) she might just say she wants “nothing!” or, “I don’t know.” But have no fear, BCBusiness is here to help. We’ve rounded up a non-exhaustive list of 11 businesses and brands selling across the province to find Mom the perfect Mother’s Day gift ahead of May 11. Hint: some may even have sales.
For quality kitchen and cookware items, look no further than Vancouver staple, Ming Wo. What started in Vancouver in 1917, has grown to multiple locations across the city. Though Ming Wo sadly closed its original Chinatown location in 2020, it still has (in this writer’s opinion) a wonderful selection of gift-able kitchenware items, from aprons to place setting to cookware to dish sets.

West Vancouver’s Temper Chocolate and Pastry has come up with some seasonal treats that could be ideal for a mom with a sweet tooth. Spring offerings like flower-shaped peppermint patties ($5), flower-decorated sugar cookies ($5.25) or the strawberry heart mousse cake ($9.50) celebrate both mom and the best of May. For something a bit more show-stopping, try the chocolate crafted heart ($28) or flower pot ($32) as an edible centrepiece.

Just because the slogan says “not your mama’s yarn store” doesn’t mean she won’t like a gift from Baaad Anna’s. If she loves to knit or simply wants to learn, gifting some colourful and eco-friendly yarn could be a unique idea for the crafty Mother in your life.
