B.C. companies pay lowest median fines for workplace deaths: report

CBC analysis has found that companies in British Columbia pay a median fine of $26,563 for penalties associated with workplace fatalities. 

The number comes from five years of data, going back to 2013. During that time, the median fine companies across the country paid was a staggering $97,500. 

In Alberta, the median fine for such an offence is well over $200,000.
