Cleaning up the rag trade

The textile industry is the second-most polluting, wasting the equivalent of a garbage truck full of fabric every second and releasing half a million tonnes of microfibres into the ocean each year. Now researchers are looking for alternatives, from resurrecting fibres such as hemp to recycling orange peels into environmentally friendly fabric.
