In a sector characterized by bean counting and number crunching, Langley, B.C.-based Facet Advisors LLP distinguishes itself by actively collaborating with clients to achieve their financial goals.
In fact, to call the chartered accounting and business advisory firm hands-on would be an understatement. “It’s common for us to work on client files daily,” says Darren Millard, Facet’s practice leader, tax and financial services. “Our senior staff members are accessible to everyone, and we ensure continuity and consistency of services—no students are ever dispatched to take over accounts.”
Everyone from high-net-worth families to small businesses and U.S. citizens living in Canada come to Facet because of its breadth of services, which include accounting, taxation, business consulting, international tax planning, change and performance management and corporate finance.
Facet’s tax expertise is arguably the most highly sought service of all. “Again, our success in this area is due to our active working of accounts as opposed to merely contacting clients towards year-end,” Millard says. “Our biggest growth has been on the tax side, with a specialty being our cross-border service. Plus, we’re one of the few firms in the Fraser Valley that handle all of the work in-house.”
Facet is equally active when it comes to community involvement. Sponsorship of local events like the Facet Advisors Grand Prix at the Thunderbird Equestrian Show Park is something Millard and colleagues are particularly devoted to, as well as sponsoring organizations whose mandates inspire them, such as Under the Same Sun, Canuck Place, Langley School Board Foundation and many other venues.
With new offices in Calgary and Canmore, Alberta, Facet Advisors is preparing itself for even more growth in the future. “We don’t just crunch numbers, we interpret them,” says Millard. “That’s the base from which we deliver timely and competitive business solutions.”
