Local VC firm inks $3.6-million deal to acquire Strutta

LX Ventures announced Thursday that it had signed a letter of intent to acquire Strutta.com Media Inc., a web marketing platform that allows brands to launch and manage online B2C campaigns.

Under the terms of the agreement, LX Ventures, which is listed on the TSX:V under LXV will acquire Strutta for $3.6-million in a stock-and-cash deal.

“Strutta’s team and technology platform can convert social media traffic at dramatically higher rates than traditional online advertising. The combination of Strutta’s monetization engine with Mobio’s social traffic positions LX Ventures to have the most valuable ad inventory on the Internet,” said Strutta co-founder Maura Rodgers in a statement.

Launched in 2009, Strutta has allowed a series of big brand clients, including Crate and Barrel, Land Rover and Adidas, to craft online contests and sweepstakes via it web marketing platform.

Gastown-based LX Ventures (which shares an address with GrowLabs and Launch Academy), has made a string of acquisitions over the past year. It bought local startups Mobio Technologies Inc. and Sosido Networks in May and crowdfunding platform Weeve Ventures Inc. last February. The firm has also pumped up its advisory board in recent weeks, signing on startup kingpin Ryan Holmes as its newest board member
