Westland Insurance is part of an industry in which catchphrases like “personalized service” and “competitive advantages” are frequently used but often don’t deliver anything beyond hyperbole – merely pleasant-sounding words to put on the marketing materials. This is partly because the insurance business demands lengthy paper trails for every transaction and activity, leaving brokers too busy processing paperwork to provide the degree of service they would like to give their customers. As well, brokers are further hampered by the fact that they must ply their trade within an operational structure that varies only slightly from company to company, making it tough to stand out from competitors.
