Sexual misconduct allegations taint Vancouver TED conference

Among the recent spate of allegations of sexual harassment unleashed by the #metoo social media campaign is the annual TED (technology, entertainment and design) conference, which these days makes its home in Vancouver. The Washington Post first reported that five women claim they were subjected to inappropriate advances at the main TED conference in Vancouver last April—particularly damaging for a highly idealistic and progressive forum for innovation whose videos of inspiring talks are widely shared on social media. In the wake of the revelations, TED responded with a statement and confirmed in the media that two men associated with the conference were asked to leave. The 2018 TED conference takes place April 10-14 at the Vancouver Convention Centre West.
