Marquee Tent, Hastings Racecourse
August 6, 2011

When the dress code reads “ascots for men and hats for ladies,” it promises to be a photo-worthy event. The Marquee Tent at the Hastings Racecourse is the closest Vancouver will get to the glam fashion of the Kentucky Derby. Dapper gents and chic ladies gathered to revel in the pageantry and betting of a good old fashioned day at the races.

The horse race event, which was started by the British nobility in the 1500s, received a modern injection from local event production companies The Adelphia Group and The Social Concierge. They rolled out the red carpet, pitched wedding-white canopy tents, and popped bottles of bubbly. The harmonic vocals of Company B jazz group filled the air with swinging tunes from the 1920s to 1940s, while the Playboy Energy Lounge took guests on a bunny-flare time warp to the lifestyle of the 1960s’ social elite.
