As a newly minted crown corporation, Trans Mountain named its board of directors on September 5.

The independent board will answer to the Parliament of Canada on all things related to the Trans Mountain pipeline extension, a project that was purchased by the government from American company Kinder Morgan.

That’s all business as usual. The surprising part? There’s just one B.C. name (acting chairman Stephen Swaffield) on the seven-person board. For a B.C. project.

In addition to Swaffield, the board features three Albertans and a trio of Torontonians.

Seems like a good idea after the expansion got rejected on the grounds of not consulting B.C.’s indigenous communities and a flawed environmental review in the province.

Not.
