The ignominious end of the Wavefront wireless accelerator

In its heyday, the Wavefront Innovation Society, a federally funded accelerator for wireless technology based in Vancouver, couldn’t get enough publicity. But in May, it went bankrupt with barely a whimper. Wavefront left some 266 creditors — including several partner programs for technology development such as Accelerate Okanagan and the British Columbia Innovation Council — holding the bag, to the tune of $2.1 million badly needed dollars. There may well be ways for governments to effectively seed the next generation of technology startups, but this isn’t it.
