Asbestos, in Quebec’s Eastern Townships, was home to the world’s largest asbestos mine until the provincial government cancelled a $58-million loan in 2012, leading to its closure. Now the town is launching new industries, from duck meat and craft beer to a ski resort and crypto-mining.
