Three B.C. cities make top 10 of Maclean’s Dangerous Cities report

Williams Lake (No. 4), Langley (No. 6) and Vernon (No. 9) made Maclean’s investigative list of the most dangerous places in the country.

North Battleford, Sask. ranked number one with a Crime Severity Index (a Statistics Canada metric of all police-related crime, which takes into consideration the volume and seriousness of the offences) of 353.

The number is determined both by the crime and by the population of the city in question. For North Battleford, a city of 14,000 people logged 25 firearm violations, 248 impaired driving volitions and 1,192 acts of disturbing the peace, putting it in the “top” spot.

Other B.C. cities that ranked high on the list were Prince George (11), Terrace (15), Penticton (16), Dawson Creek (17), Chilliwack (18) and Port Alberni (19).
