Where Vancouver ranks among the world’s best cities

Resonance Consultancy Ltd., a Vancouver-based adviser on tourism, real estate and economic development for countries, cities and communities worldwide, has released its 2018 World’s Best Cities Report. Resonance analyzes and compares 23 factors in six key categories (place, product, programming, people, prosperity and promotion) using a combination of core statistics and online ratings and reviews to quantifies and benchmarks the relative quality of place, reputation and competitive identity for the planet’s principal cities with metropolitan populations of one million or more.

No Canadian cities make the top 10—London, England, tops the list—although Vancouver is No.1 in the people category, followed by Toronto. Overall, Toronto places 13th, Vancouver 29th, Calgary 34th, Montreal 41st, Ottawa 51st and Edmonton 60th.

Another report, by Homeday GmbH, a Berlin-headquartered online portal for home buyers and sellers, ranks Vancouver No. 6 in the world’s 100 best cities for families.
