New Crown corp. Destination BC announces industry representatives to tourism committee.

Tourism Marketing Committee industry appointees revealed; represent all six regional destination marketing organizations in the province

The names of tourism industry representatives selected to serve on Destination BC’s Tourism Marketing Committee were announced today by board chair Andrea Shaw.

The committee’s mandate is to provide the Crown corporation’s board of directors and CEO with input and recommendations on tourism marketing strategies, tourism performance indicators, and ways to both align tourism marketing initiatives and leverage funds for tourism marketing programs.

The committee is comprised of nominees identified by each of the six regional destination marketing organizations. Two Destination BC Board members will also sit on the committee, which will be chaired by Destination BC’s CEO. (Dana Hayden is interim CEO while the Crown corp. looks for a permanent hire.)

“B.C.’s tourism regions took the lead in identifying people who have the skills needed to work for the benefit of tourism across the province, rather than a specific sector or city,” said David MacKenzie, selection committee chair and board chair for the Vancouver, Coast & Mountains Tourism region. “This process enabled us to evaluate candidates with varied backgrounds and experience.”

A full list of committee members and their bios is on the Destination BC website.
