Over 400 guests attended the Banquet of Champions, where the BC Sports Hall of Fame inducted nine individuals and one team as part of its 2013 class. The event raised funds for the BC Sports Hall of Fame’s Hero in You education program, which works to inspire every child in B.C. to find their own hero within. Hall of Fame trustee and Olympic medal skater Karen Magnussen addressed the crowd in the VIP section prior to the gala dinner and presented the Karen Magnussen Award to the youth recipients. A raffle and silent auction took place in the main foyer followed with dinner in the ballroom and a live auction and induction ceremony.

“The 2013 Class of Inductees to be honoured by the BC Sports Hall of Fame showcases the best of the best in B.C. sport,” said Marion Lay, honoured member and chair of the selection committee. “Our selection committee did an outstanding job of sifting through over 100 nominations. We truly thank them and the members of the public who take the time to submit nominations.”
