Fishing for Kids Reception 2012
Reflections at the Hotel Georgia
August 25, 2012

The 7th Annual Fishing for Kids Tournament enjoyed a lavish kickoff at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia’s Reflections lounge. A glittering crowd of about 100, including Vancouver Canucks’ Manny Malhotra and 2012 Stanley Cup champion Willie Mitchell of the L.A.Kings, gathered on the eve of their charity fishing trip to the West Coast Fishing Club. The Canadian Tenors also performed in a rare private appearance as guests indulged in cocktails and canapes.

Each year, this three-day fishing trip brings together high-profile community and business leaders to support a common goal: to help enhance the lives of more than 7,000 children and young adults living with autism in B.C. This year the event aims to break the $4-million mark for total charitable funds to date. All funds from the 2012 event will benefit the Canucks Autism Network (CAN), which was established by Paolo Aquilini and wife Clara in 1996.

In addition to fishing for a cause in beautiful Haida Gwaii (Queen Charlotte Islands), the 44 anglers will enjoy gourmet meals created by guest chef David Hawksworth of Hawksworth Restaurant.
