Vancouver restauranteur Daniel Frankel has reportedly purchased one of the city’s most storied eateries.

Frankel, the man behind the successful Tap & Barrel chain, is set on remodelling Granville Island’s Bridges restaurant, with plans to keep the upstairs portion of the space the same while “re-inventing” the downstairs bar area.

“I have had a strong emotional connection to Bridges and Granville Island throughout my life. I’m proud of its legacy and will do the city proud with a concept unlike any other this country has ever seen,” said Frankel in a release.

Bridges has operated on Granville Island since 1980, while Frankel started Tap & Barrel in 2012.
