Sandermoen School of Business Launches New Graduate Programs

Sandermoen School of Business give business professionals a big boost with new MBA and Executive MBA graduate programs

With the number of social enterprises in Canada steadily growing over the past few years, more and more social entrepreneurs are looking to enhance their existing educational credentials with additional designations. These professionals are keenly in pursuit of credentials that deliver business and social value at the forefront.

The University of Fredericton’s Sandermoen School of Business has recently launched Canada’s first MBA and Executive MBA in Social Enterprise Leadership. Delivered in a fully online format, these graduate programs are aimed to attract early-career professionals and managers of non-profit organizations and social enterprises, and advanced-career professionals who aspire to lead their businesses towards much higher performance.

“We have a growing demand for understanding how to run increasingly sophisticated social enterprises,” says David Large, dean of Sandermoen School of Business. “There are non-profit organizations whose leaders and managers have not necessarily been formally educated or have any experience on how to run a for-profit business, turning to the idea of earned revenue and using a significant portion of profits to achieve a social impact.”

The virtual experience provides an unparalleled learning environment with students participating in real-time seminars, case studies and/or conferences using Cisco’s WebEx platform. Uninhibited by geography, program participants gain an international perspective by working with professors, speakers and colleagues from across North America and beyond.

“The online experience is consistent with the mission of the university—to provide life-long learning paths for working professionals,” says Large. “These programs provide a more convenient pathway for students to gain extra credentials and for professionals whose specific needs may not be met by the larger institutions. We feel we can be very responsive to new needs and to the needs of smaller groups who may have been, to this point, overlooked or underserved.”
