Need a job? Amazon is hiring.

One of the world’s biggest online marketplaces is making its first foray into Canada, and the company has chosen Vancouver for a new web development centre.

According to the Seattle-based site’s jobs page, Amazon is hiring for 10 jobs locally, including several software development engineers.

The jobs page touts Vancouver as a great place to live, hyping its mild climate and “beautiful natural scenery.” The company also says it “anticipates [Amazon Vancouver] growing quickly,” hinting that the dev centre will be doing more even more hiring in the near future.

Amazon’s confident investment in Vancouver will likely prove to be a boon for the tech industry as yet another major corporation plants its flag in the city and looks to draw talent from the region and all over North America.

The dev centre is slated to open next month, according to tech industry news blog TechVibes, and will “initially focus on helping to develop tools and applications that enable all Amazon engineers to deliver the best, most scalable and efficient technologies.”
