HootSuite Poaches New VP of Marketing from Microsoft

New HootSuite VP Marketing Dee Anna McPherson

Yammer’s Dee Anna McPherson joins the Vancouver social media management site

HootSuite announced Dee Anna McPherson as its new head of marketing this morning. The “premium” guru comes from Yammer, an intranet-type social media network for businesses.

McPherson has led marketing at the Microsoft-owned platform since 2010. Among the highlights of McPherson’s time at Yammer are a 300-per-cent annual growth rate and Microsoft’s acquisition of the company for $1.2 billion.

“Dee Anna is a dream fit—she put enterprise social networking on the map at Yammer and understands HootSuite’s key vision and ambitions,” HootSuite CEO Ryan Holmes said in a statement.

San Francisco-based MacPherson was formerly a partner at Horn Group, and senior vice president at both Edelman and Ogilvy PR.

HootSuite, the Vancouver-based social media management company, saw big growth from 2012. Its workforce went from 70 to 250, and it plans to hire up to 100 more employees in 2013.
