Turning You into a Better Web Competitor

I am 23 and I can help you. In the likely case you’ve never heard of me, I'm Tommy Humpheys. I own and operate PACWEBCO, a web design and marketing agency here in Vancouver. The first place today's customers go for answers, products, and services is the Internet. Our company creates content, designs and online campaigns to connect our clients with those consumers – more often, and more effectively.

I am 23 and I can help you.

In the likely case you’ve never heard of me, I’m Tommy Humpheys. I own and operate PACWEBCO, a web design and marketing agency here in Vancouver. The first place today’s customers go for answers, products, and services is the Internet. Our company creates content, designs and online campaigns to connect our clients with those consumers – more often, and more effectively.

The Shift Key is here to show you how to take your business to the Web. It is a resource for two types of businesspeople: 1) those not yet online who are considering taking the leap, and 2) those who have a web presence already but want to get more out of it – more profit, that is.

My qualification is that I’m on the Internet front line – a line that is moving quickly. I, like many members of my generation, have spent half of my waking life in front of a computer screen. It hasn’t all been a waste. What I learned in that time has helped me grow a business around one clear idea: figuring out what the customer needs, then delivering an online solution that is simple and effective (Check out the work we’ve done for work for PartySkirts, MogoMoney, G-Force Group and Dr.’s Carruthers – four recent clients.)

The Web has revolutionized communications. The question is, What does that mean for your business – and how can you make it work for you?

My goal in writing this blog is to share what I know about websites, search engines, social media, design, and marketing, in the hopes that it will give you the edge over your competitors.

I plan to focus on one concept each week, and explain it in a non-technical way. No unwieldy acronyms, no polysyllabic techie jargon. For examples, I’ll look at local businesses and analyze their strategies, telling you what I think works – and what could be re-worked.

It’s my hope that in the weeks and months ahead, we’ll talk about what is and isn’t working for you in your business. Today’s Internet is all about openness and dialogue. I’ll share with you what I’ve learned – and I hope you’ll you’ll share your experiences with me, too.

In the meantime, feel free to follow me at @tommyhump, if you’ve already made the leap into Twitter.
